Sindh’s first forensic laboratory was established at the University of Karachi

The first DNA and serology laboratory in Sindh was established at the University of Karachi.

It is able to complete 100 forensic analyzes in a month. The newly established laboratory will help to accurately identify the perpetrators of violations and violent crimes.

This is the first forensic laboratory in Sindh and the second in Pakistan. It has been established at the Jamil-ur-Rahman Center for Genome Research and is under the jurisdiction of the Sindh Forensic Authority. It was built in part due to an order of the Supreme Court.

Dr. Iqbal Choudhary, a scientist and director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences at the University of Karachi, answered questions about the SAMAA TV NAMA Din program laboratory on Friday.

Dr. Choudhary said the establishment of the laboratory would greatly help solve crime cases quickly. He said the laboratory was part of the legal system and that its costs would be borne by the Sindh government. He said that, generally, the forensic analysis in a criminal investigation takes a week, since the sample remains uncontaminated.

Dr. Choudhary added that the laboratory would only conduct investigations of those cases that were referred to it by the government or the Sindh courts.

Forensic analysis in criminal cases can take much longer in Sindh than in other parts of the country. This was because Sindh did not have a forensic laboratory and often outsourced analysis to Punjab or Islamabad.
